Ego and Healthy Self-Esteem

Is there a space between Ego and Healthy Self-Esteem? Well, there's actually a common misconception about what the Ego really is. People tend to believe that if someone has a loud personality or is disrespectful toward others, they have a "Big Ego." Truth is, we ALL have an Ego. Because the Ego is simply the house for the Personality, the Identity, the Story. You can find healthy Self-Esteem in both the Egoic & Ego-less states of Being.

Ego and Healthy Self-Esteem

I think first, we need to get clear on what actually is the Ego?

Many people often think that if a Guy/Woman is “arrogant” or “steamrolls” over others, they have a “huge Ego.”

But the Ego actually is just the house for our Identity. Our Likes and our Dislikes. Our Personality.

So when we say, “this person has a big Ego,” we actually mean “his personality is not very nice and he/she is not very nice to the people around them.” Or they’re simply unaware of how they are.

A healthy Self-Esteem is a feeling of confidence in oneself. Of belief in oneself.

This knowing that no matter what happens, you’re going to be okay.

It’s completely different to being a douchebag or an asshole or someone who is just not nice to other people.

We all have an Ego. And we all can have a healthy Self-Esteem at the same time, Which is thinking of ourselves in a positive way. Looking in the mirror and thinking “I’m happy about being me and this personality.”

Of course, it can go a lot deeper when we can step beyond the Ego and go beyond our Personality.

This is where true self-esteem comes through. Because we realize that we do have this personality, we like it or not, but regardless, we have this Essence of Divinity within us, making us equal to all other human beings and connected back to God. And we’re not alone, we’ve got help and guidance from within us.

You can have this healthy self-esteem without even contemplating your personality or your Ego, which is the ultimate state to reach.

It flowers effortlessly. It’s not “practicing self-love” or its not “trying to remember how to find that balance of Ego/Self.”

The mind stops thinking, stops acting on “trying to do the right thing.” Because once you discover your Inner Energy you don’t identify yourself so much with your Identity.

Meaning, you’re able to just watch it, appreciate it and honor its path and its use in this life.

The Ego, the Personality, the Identity, it has a role. Even with your Inner Energy flowing and your awareness of it, there are times when you need your Identity.

It can protect you when there’s a car coming and you’re in the middle of the road and you need to make a quick decision.

Or as soon as you’re meeting someone, you kind of have to say your name, right? As soon as you say your name, it’s connected to your Story.

Your Inner Energy is being channeled through your Identity.

The moment you say your name, we need our Ego. We need all those stepping stones that our Identity carries that are beautiful because it has brought us here.

It has taught us things. Even though it’s so limiting and limited, it still has its role to play.

The difference between Ego and Self-Esteem: Many people talk about Ego-Death and getting rid of the Ego or not giving it too much attention because X, Y, Z.

The Ego can only become a problem when there is no calling into diving deeper into yourself. If you’re fully identified with your Identity.

At some point, you will feel that you are something more than just your name, your likes, your clothes, the facts of your story.

In that moment, you will realize that your Ego never really dies. It just stops having the spotlight on itself. And that’s what it comes down to.

If you feel called to diving deeper into yourself, beyond just understanding what is your Identity, understanding being aware of your Inner Energy.

Beyond that, being able to be guided. Being able to feel that your Inner Energy has always been there and it can become active in such a beautiful and transformational way.

Ego, personality, very different to what people call a “Big Ego.” Which is someone who’s not so nice/aware.

You can have healthy self-esteem at the same time: Where you enjoy the reflection of your personality. You don’t have to have a big Ego to have healthy self-esteem.

You can move beyond that, when you connect with your Inner Energy, when you realize you are this Divine Being, you can have a healthy self-esteem that has nothing to do with your Identity, with your likes/dislikes.

Ultimately, when you do have a healthy self-esteem, you don’t need to go and tell the world how good you are, because you’re comfortable in your own skin.
